Mindroling Monastery
Mindroling is one of the greatest monasteries of Nyingmapa sect which is located at southern part of Tibet.
It was originally built in 10th century by one of the ten Great Masters of U-tsang area, Lume Tsultrim Sherab, later in 1670 the monastery was enlarged by Master Urgyen Tetha Lingpa Renzin Gyume Dorje.
Mindroling Monastery used to be the center for studying knowledge on Tibetan Buddhism, and at the same time it fostered talents on Tibetan Astrology and Medicine. Many famous scholars have emerged from the monastery. Thus it was praised as comprehensive college of Tibetan Buddhism.
Now Mindroling Monastery is listed as a State Class Protected Unit of Cultural Relics.
